Report on Science Summer Camp
The three-week Science Summer School ‘Prerna-2026’, jointly organised by the Society for Promotion of Science and Technology in India (SPSTI) and the Haryana Education Department, Panchkula, was held successfully at D.A.V. Public School, Sector-37, Faridabad under the able guidance of the School Principal, Ms. Deepti Jagota. Scheduled from June 3 to June 23, 2026, the programme saw enthusiastic participation of around 290 students from DAV and Government Schools across Faridabad.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Shri Sanjay Joon(Commissioner Faridabad), Shri Dheeraj Singh(Block Education Officer), Shri Dharamveer (President SPSTI ,Retd. IAS) ,Shri Mahipal Sharma(Manager SPSTI), Dr. Ritu Sharma(Coordinator SPSTI)and other distinguished guests.
During the camp, students participated in rocket making and launching, paper telescope making activity, optical illusion experiments, star-gazing sessions to observe Venus, Jupiter and its satellites. These activities fostered scientific curiosity, creativity, observation skills, and a spirit of inquiry.
An educational visit to the Nehru Planetarium, New Delhi was one of the most enriching experiences of the camp, offering studentsan engaging insight into astronomy and space science.
The closing ceremony was graced by the dignitaries from SPSTI and the Haryana Education Department who appreciated the enthusiasm of the students and the dedicated efforts of the organisers, mentors and teachers.
Principal Ms. Deepti Jagota congratulated the participants and expressed gratitude to SPSTI, the Haryana Education Department, Resource Persons, Teachers, Volunteers, and Parents for their valuable support. The programme concluded with the distribution of medals and trophies to the best performers and certificates to all the participants.
