Learning is an ongoing process that focuses on helping one understand one's own self, as well as work trends, so that one can take an informed decision about Career and Education. D.A.V. Public School, Sector 37, Faridabad organized a seminar on "Inside the Stock Exchange" on Friday, 13th December,2024 under the guidance and leadership of Principal Ms. Deepti Jagota and on an initiative of ‘Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship Club’ targeting the students of Class XI and XII who are interested in finance, business, and economics.
The event aimed to demystify the functioning of stock exchanges, their role in the economy, and their relevance to aspiring investors and professionals. It featured an expert speaker, Mr. Harbinder Singh Sokhi, Manager, CDSL Ltd., a seasoned stock market analyst having an experience of 23 years, who provided deep insights into the topic. He has worked for 12 years with BSE Investor Protection Fund Team - North Zone, responsible for Financial Awareness Session in North India and inspection of SME Companies for the purpose of getting themselves listed on BSE SME platform. Currently he is a part of the CDSL North Zone business Development Team working out of Delhi office for the past 1 year looking after DP support, lesioning with SEBI and Govt. Dept. and conducting awareness sessions for North Zone of CDSL and many more.
The session began with the welcome of the Guest Speaker by Ms. Rita Amit, Faculty Coordinator, Business Studies. The primary objective was to familiarize students with the operational structure of stock exchanges, the trading process, and the importance of understanding market trends. The session also sought to develop financial literacy among students, encouraging informed decision-making in investments.
The seminar was highly interactive and engaging, with students expressing their enthusiasm for gaining first-hand knowledge about stock markets. Many participants appreciated the simplicity with which complex concepts were explained.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Dimple Bhatia, Faculty Coordinator, Accountancy who encouraged students to explore further and apply the learning in real-life scenarios. Overall, the seminar succeeded in sparking interest among students and providing a foundational understanding of the stock exchange and its workings.
