REPORT on ‘The Book Week Celebration 2024’

‘Reading is the soul's whisper, turning words into worlds and moments into eternity.’

The ‘Book Week Celebration’ at D.A.V. Public School, Sector-37, Faridabad, organised for Classes I to XII, was a vibrant and inspiring event, that brought the joy of reading to life for students and staff. Held from 25th November 2024 to 30th November 2024, in association with ‘Scholastics’, the Book Week featured an array of activities designed to foster love for books and creativity.

The highlight of the event was the inauguration of the ‘Book Fair’ by the School Principal

Ms.Deepti Jagota who herself is an avid book lover. The event transformed the school into a haven for book enthusiasts. Students explored an extensive collection of books, discovering new genres and authors. The fair was a bustling hub of excitement, with many students eagerly purchasing their favourite titles.

Another remarkable feature was the ‘Meet the Author’ session, where a young author, Ms.Shreya Chugh, interacted with the students of Class IXand Mr.Aditya Nath, a renowned author from Mumbai, connected with the students of class VIII, whereas,ShriPrakash Manu, a renowned author and former editor of Nandan Magazine and BalSahityaPuraskarawardee, addressed the students of class V. It was an insightful session about the author’s journey, writing process, and the importance of storytelling. The interactive Q/A session allowed students to connect with the author at a personal level, leaving them inspired to explore their own creative potential.

A variety of library-based activities were also designed for classes I to V. Bookmark Making, Learning About Parts of the Book, Book Parade(Fancy Dress Show based on Books) and Treasure Hunt, Poster Making on the Benefits of Reading Books, Designing a Magazine made learning enjoyable and meaningful. Students of Classes VI to VIII participated in a variety of interesting activities such as Story Walk, Bookmark Design, Book Review and Creative Writing, and Book Jacket Design. Students of class IX were engaged in plethora of activities like Book Talk, Creative Expression activities such as Book Cover Designing, Author’s Review and Collage Making of newspaper clippings. The Book Review and Crossword Puzzle Challenge added to the excitement.

The Book Week concluded with a sense of accomplishment and a renewed enthusiasm for reading among the students. All the activities fostered critical thinking, sparked curiosity and emphasized the relevance of reading in everyday life.The event successfully highlighted the importance of literature and creativity, leaving everyone eagerly anticipating next year’s celebration.
